Our Journey
The farm was acquired in 1964 with its original shareholders including Joseph Kuria Tharao, James Waiganjo Gitungo, Evans Kamau Munira, Mwangi Mbothu, George Njau Mwagiru, Johnson Kagua Kiarie, and Elijah Mwangi Mbiru.
Historical Context
At the point of purchase, the farm had 130 herds of cattle and 57 acres under Tea zoned as Tigoni, House, Tank, and Rwaka. Tea planting commenced immediately with Kofia and some parts of Kinuthia varieties.
Growth & Expansion
Menengai Farmers has grown significantly, marked by the acquisition of the Maramba Tea Factory. This factory maximizes our production growth by ensuring zero waste and adding value to our high-quality tea directly from the source.
